The short answer
Samsung and LG TVs need IBO Player Pro from their own app stores, because they do not run Android apps. Android TV and Google TV sets can run TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro directly. If your TV is older than about 2019, or its app store does not carry a working player, a Fire TV Stick in a spare HDMI port is faster, cheaper to fix and usually smoother than the TV’s own software.
First, work out which TV you have
| Brand | Operating system | Runs Android apps? |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung | Tizen | No |
| LG | webOS | No |
| Sony, Philips, TCL, Hisense (many) | Android TV / Google TV | Yes |
| Roku TV | Roku OS | No — very limited for IPTV |
| Vizio | SmartCast | No — very limited for IPTV |
This single fact decides everything that follows. Settings → About will tell you if you are unsure.
Samsung (Tizen)
- Press Home, open Apps, then the search icon.
- Search for IBO Player Pro and install it.
- Open it. The app shows a MAC address and a device key on screen — write both down.
- Activate the app on the developer’s site using those details. There is usually a small one-off fee; it is the app developer’s charge, not ours.
- Add your playlist with the Xtream Codes details we send — server URL including the port, username, password.
- Reopen the app on the TV. The line-up and guide load.
The activation is tied to that specific TV. Replace the TV and you activate again.
LG (webOS)
The process mirrors Samsung’s: open the LG Content Store, search for IBO Player Pro, install, note the MAC address and device key it displays, activate on the developer’s site, add your Xtream Codes details, reopen.
On both Samsung and LG, if the app store search returns nothing, your TV’s OS version is likely too old to be supported. Skip to the stick section rather than fighting it.
Android TV and Google TV
This is the easy one, because the full Android app catalogue is available.
- Open the Google Play Store on the TV.
- Install TiviMate (best guide and channel management) or IPTV Smarters Pro (simplest start).
- Open it, choose Xtream Codes, and enter the server URL with its port, username and password.
- Set the buffer to 2–3 seconds and the decoder to hardware.

Roku and Vizio: the honest answer
Both are closed platforms with no satisfactory IPTV player. There are workarounds involving screen mirroring from a phone, and they are all worse than the alternative. If you own a Roku TV or a Vizio and want IPTV, buy a streaming stick. That is not a dodge; it is simply the right answer.
When a $40 stick is the better answer
Reach for a Fire TV Stick 4K Max or an Android TV box instead of the TV’s own apps when any of these are true:
- Your TV is a Roku TV or a Vizio.
- Your Samsung or LG is older than about 2019 and the app store has nothing.
- The TV’s interface is already slow with its own apps — IPTV will not be faster.
- You want 4K and the TV’s built-in player handles it poorly.
- You would rather not pay a per-TV activation fee.
A stick also moves with you, updates independently of the TV, and is replaceable for $40 when it eventually ages. For most households it is simply the better platform — see best IPTV for Firestick.
Smart TV problems and fixes
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| App not in the store | TV OS too old | Use a streaming stick |
| App opens, playlist will not save | Not activated | Complete activation with MAC + device key |
| Channels load, no guide | Signed in with M3U | Re-add with Xtream Codes |
| Buffering on Wi-Fi only | TV’s Wi-Fi radio is weak | Run an Ethernet cable to the TV |
| Interface sluggish | TV processor | Streaming stick |
| 4K stutters, HD fine | Bandwidth or decoding | Watch the FHD version of the channel |
